Realtor of the Year!

This year, the Northwestern Vermont Board of Realtors awarded its highest honor, the REALTOR® of the Year Distinction Award, to Alison Barges, a listing and selling partner at Nancy Jenkins Real Estate and a long-time Williston resident.

NVBR’s coveted Realtor of the Year award is presented to a real estate agent who demonstrates high principles of integrity, adheres to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, and promotes the principles of good real estate practice.

Barges was chosen for her more than 15 years of work promoting the local Real Estate community and volunteering with local charities. She is the former President of the NVBR Board and a graduate of the NVBR Evelyn Biddle Leadership Development Program.

“I am honored to be recognized for such a wonderful award,” said Barges. “It is a great honor to be part of the amazing group of realtors here in Vermont. And I look forward to many more years of serving our community and helping clients with their Real Estate needs.”

Barges, who lives in Williston with her 11-month-old daughter, Chloe, started selling real estate in 2013. She joined the Nancy Jenkins Team at Prudential Realty Mart, a leading Vermont real estate agency headed by her mother, Nancy Jenkins.

Not long after, Barges became an active member of NVBR meetings and events. In 2011, she was elected to her first formal role, as Director of the NVBR Board.

Serving in the community, Barges has been a Team Captain for the American Cancer Society’s annual Northern Vermont Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk since 2013. She created the Nancy Jenkins Real Estate Little Pink Houses Team, which has helped to raise thousands of dollars for breast cancer research and support.

Since 2014 Barges had also been part of the Vermont Walk to Defeat ALS, walking with the Williams Team in honor of Jeremy Williams, a family friend and former Williston resident who died from the disease in 2015. She is a supporter of the Jeremy R Williams ALS Golf Classic.

Nancy Jenkins, owner and broker of Nancy Jenkins Real Estate, said, “This award could not have gone to a more deserving person. Alison has been an outstanding addition to our community from the get-go. I am beyond impressed with the level of dedication and drive for excellence she displays.”

Barges has expertise in nearly every aspect of real estate practice. She holds the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) designation and helped to bring CRS classes to back to Northwestern Vermont, so others could participate.

A graduate of American University with a degree in International Studies, Barges participated in the international real estate program REV Real Estate Success.rocks conferences in both Burlington, VT, and Charleston, SC. She also attended Star Power conferences in New York and San Francisco, where she learned and shared with realtors from around the country. She attended Star Power Buyer University, Listing University, and their Buyer University in 2003 and Leadership University.

Congratulations to Alison!
